Data Testing Project for a City Commercial Bank’s Next-Generation Core Banking System
The bank’s existing core banking system, launched in 2010, was no longer sufficient to support evolving business and IT service requirements. To enhance IT service capabilities and meet business development needs, the bank initiated construction of its next-generation core banking system cluster—designed as a “1+10+N” upgrade model to integrate with peripheral systems, data platforms, and downstream applications.
The initiative faced significant challenges: broad business scope, numerous cross-system functions, complex legacy data migration, and high testing and management complexity.
To ensure project progress and quality delivery, GienTech implemented systematic and comprehensive data testing across all systems within the next-generation core program. Leveraging the Data Testing Platform, the migration mapping between source systems and staging tables, and between staging tables and target systems, was imported into the platform. This enabled:
· Automated generation of field-level validation scripts, achieving a 92% automation rate.
· Automated generation of table-level aggregation and validation scripts, achieving a 100% automation rate.
· Automated comparison and execution of validation scripts, significantly improving testing efficiency and accuracy.
The project was delivered on time and with high quality, ensuring the successful rollout of the next-generation core banking system cluster. By introducing the data testing solution, the project team mitigated risks associated with limited technical resources and insufficient testing experience. As a result, data was migrated to the new system with high quality, guaranteeing business continuity and operational reliability.
