The client´s existing data warehouse was based on the Teradata platform, with a total storage volume reaching 70TB. As business volumes and data continued to grow, the platform could no longer meet batch processing timeliness requirements. Considering the high cost of future expansion, the client sought to migrate to a more cost-effective DWS platform to replace the current system.

Based on a deep understanding of the client’s needs and leveraging our extensive migration experience, we rapidly tailored a solution and supporting tools to meet the deadline:
Utilized our proprietary table conversion tool to convert approximately 98% of Teradata DDL statements to Gauss syntax, significantly accelerating the migration process
Developed an automated data migration program using batch APIs to efficiently and accurately transfer massive volumes of historical data
Executed complete Teradata-to-Gauss migration, covering table creation, data verification, and character encoding conversion (GBK to UTF-8), ensuring migration progress and shortening the timeline
Manually mapped and converted Teradata macros into equivalent Gauss functions
Successfully migrated all historical data from Teradata’s source and foundation layers to the Gauss database
Enabled daily automated incremental synchronization between the two systems, solving data verification challenges
Completed the full migration project within the six-month deadline and received highly positive feedback from the client
Post-launch, the system operated smoothly and was able to detect and alert on data inconsistencies in real time, preventing rework and ensuring data integrity
