Sibos 2024 | GienTech Showcases Trade Finance and Cross-Border Payment Capabilities
From October 21 to 24, 2024, Sibos—the world’s leading annual event for the global financial services industry—was held in Beijing.

During the event, Jeff Zhou, General Manager of GienTech’s International Delivery Division, engaged with industry professionals on key topics including trade finance, cross-border payments, and international settlement. Through on-site demonstrations featuring videos and visual materials, GienTech presented its latest FinTech capabilities to international attendees.
Building the Next Generation of Trade Finance Systems
As global trade and investment continue to expand, efficient financial services are increasingly critical. Technologies such as AI, big data, and cloud computing are key drivers of innovation.
Leveraging China Electronics’ secure and autonomous computing ecosystem, GienTech has developed Origien, a new-generation digital foundation designed to support key industries including financial services. Origien helps address indigenous technology adoption, IT architecture modernization, and digital transformation needs. Building on Origien, GienTech applies application re-engineering methodologies to support financial institutions in application modernization.

At Sibos 2024, GienTech showcased its next-generation trade finance system, featuring comprehensive international settlement capabilities. The system supports a broad range of products, including cross-border remittances, letters of credit, documentary collections, cross-border guarantees, and domestic letters of credit, as well as trade financing services built on these settlement processes. Transactions can be initiated via multiple digital channels such as online banking and mobile applications, and supported by various clearing networks, including SWIFT, CIPS, and both domestic and foreign currency payment systems.
Backed by over 30 years of continuous investment in trade finance IT solutions, GienTech’s next-generation trade finance system has been deployed across numerous financial institutions in China and overseas. According to IDC’s China Banking IT Solutions Market Share 2023 report, GienTech ranked No.1 in the payment and clearing solutions sub-market for the 11th consecutive year, driven largely by its strengths in international settlement solutions.
In addition, GienTech’s exhibition highlighted a portfolio of digital products and solutions, including the Origien digital foundation, the Origien Data Asset Management Platform, the Rainbow Data Collection Platform, the GienBI visualization platform, and customer resource management solutions.
Deepening Collaboration with SWIFT to Enhance Efficiency
GienTech has maintained a long-standing strategic partnership with SWIFT. In early 2024, GienTech became the first SWIFT-certified Value-Added Technology Partner in China and the only domestic technology partner participating in the global co-development of SWIFT Case Management solutions.

During a panel discussion at Sibos 2024, Jeff Zhou shared insights into the joint progress made by GienTech and SWIFT in addressing cross-border payment and clearing challenges.
As an early adopter and promoter of the ISO 20022 standard, GienTech has delivered end-to-end cross-border payment solutions compliant with ISO 20022 and worked closely with financial institutions and SWIFT to support implementation. Jeff noted that traditional reliance on unstructured MT messages increases operational complexity and cost, while ISO 20022-based Case Management enables more structured, transparent, and efficient information handling through intelligent routing and automated responses.
GienTech’s international settlement and clearing solutions are leveraging these capabilities to help financial institutions streamline workflows and improve the speed and transparency of cross-border payments.
Jeff emphasized that the transition to ISO 20022 is not only a compliance requirement, but also a key enabler of innovation, efficiency, and sustainable growth. GienTech will continue to collaborate with SWIFT to accelerate ISO 20022 adoption and support the industry’s high-quality development.
